World Usability Day @ÅF

Taking our lead from the international World Usability Day, the Design Experience group at ÅF along with STIMDI is inviting you to an evening where we discuss how professionals and organizations can create services and products that are relevant, easier to access and simpler to use. It is about making our world work better. It is about reaching out to the common citizen and spreading the message: "We don’t have to put up with products and services that don’t work well and that human error is a misnomer." This year's theme is Innovation and we have invited some of the brightest minds out there to share their take on it with us.

The event is mostly in English, however some of the lightning talks might be held in Swedish. We will serve wraps as a light dinner and drinks and fika will be available.

Karl-Magnus Möller - "Empathy – at the heart of innovation"

In many large development organizations the innovation processes tend to focus on ideas or what is currently is technologically feasible. This leads in many cases to new solutions that nobody really wants. When including empathy in the innovation work there is a much greater chance that you end up solving real needs and you might find that your solutions are desirable and thus have a greater chance of commercial success.

The talk will show how the visualization group applies this to projects and where do they see the field going in the next years.

Karin Hedin & Margareta Löfvenholm - "Co-design in order to fastly create great solutions that people love to use."

Everyone's input is important. As important both from a designer's, a product owner's or a developer's perspective. But often things get lost in communication. Through visualizing our design problems, we keep the focus on the problem rather than the things around it. This way, we have a specific artefact to express our thoughts around which enables everyone to contribute with ideas and solutions in a more efficient ways. Everyone's knowledge gets gathered in one place. A sketch can open doors and get people to work together across organizational silos.

Karin Hedin & Margareta Löfvenholm - Co-design Workshop

Test out and learn best tips and practices on how collaboration in a team could be improved through co-design methods. Participants will work through a fictional case and we will discuss and learn from the results together in the end of it.

Innovation fishbowl / Mingle

We will form a debate panel on stage with volunteers from the audience. The audience will suggest questions that they want to see discussed. The members of the panel will rotate to leave room for others to join in.
